Chris Suharso's first visit to Bali in 1961 proved to be a turning point in his artistic career. He was captivated by the island's landscape and culture, and it influenced many of his works throughout his life. This painting, which depicts a temple gate with a group of worshippers in Ubud, was created before his very first solo exhibition at Balai Budaya Jakarta in 1965.
