The Thicket Tales: A Solo Exhibition by Ramrama
The Thicket Tales presents Rama’s gestural expression of flora and ‘gulma’- the rapidly-growing bushes scattered throughout the cities. Rama’s way of storytelling combines botanical compositions that celebrates perseverance along with Batik Parang collages that holds philosophical meanings, inviting us to contemplate on the living things surrounding us and our own way of living.

Ramadhyan Putri Pertiwi or Ramrama was born in Bekasi, West Java, Indonesia in 1993. Rama currently resides and continuously develops her artistic endeavor in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Rama received her formal art education in Indonesian Institute of the Arts, Yogyakarta, majoring in fine art, graduating in 2018. Rama’s main concept in her paintings is the abstraction of flora and other botanical elements, executed through an expressionist style with bold and strong brushstrokes. Rama’s energetic curves within her strokes are a symbol of strength and dynamic.
